Grace Waiswa Nsaawa

    Grace is the Makerere Law Society President, a DLA Piper Fellow, an aspiring legal practitioner, especially in the area of Corporate, Commercial Litigation.
    He is the Federation of African Law Students’ East African Regional Director for Policies Programs and Projects.
    He is passionate about leadership. He has served on the Makerere Law Society Cabinet since 2019/2020 as First Year Class Representative.
    Grace won the Internal All of Africa Human Rights Moot Court Competitions 2021 at Makerere University. Grace represented Makerere University in the Nuremberg Moot Court Competitions 2020 and 2021 held at the Nuremberg International Criminal Tribunal in Nuremberg, Germany.
    In May 2019, he emerged winner of the Makerere Moot Society Spirit Award.
    Grace is a former Research Fellow with the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR).
    He is also a Global Livingston Institute (GLI) Fellow, class of 2020, a global leadership institute for change makers and global development pacesetters. Grace is also a member of the Bright Network, a UK based Organisation that offers professional career development and internship experience for prospective lawyers.
    He is a reader, researcher and a writer. Grace has served as Editor of the Makerere Law Journal 2019 – 2021 and Editor in Chief of the inaugural Uganda Debater Magazine.
    He is interested in Human Rights and Social Justice. He is a member of the Community Law Program and Mobile Clinic (CLAPMOC), a

    Public Interest Law Clinic (PILAC) that supports local communities to access their justice needs.
    Grace is also a motivational speaker. He worked with the Mastercard Foundation Scholarships Program, BRAC, together with Ability Explored, a capacity building organisation to inspire and motivate students from over 20 schools around Uganda through a Virtual Learning and Interaction Program in 2018.
    Outside Law and Leadership, Grace is a debater. He represented Makerere University in the Rule of Law University Debate Challenge 2020. He is also a debate judge and a debate coach. Grace has worked with the National Debate Council to impart debate skills in over 100 schools around Uganda since 2017.
